W.D. Parks

William D. Parks
Clemmons, NC

The NCSSA Hall Of Fame Committee is honored to announce the induction of Mr. W.D. Parks into the North Carolina Skeet Shooting Hall Of Fame.

Though Mr. Parks never held state office he gave a great deal to our sport. From his own love for the sport he started bringing targets back to North Carolina in the Bingham & Parks trucks. This led him to form a relationship with Winchester that transformed Bingham and Parks Lumber Co. into the shooting supply giant that is Parks and Son today.

He also built and operated Tar Heel Gun Club in Advance N.C. -- a six skeet field facility that hosted many NC State Open and State Closed Championships. It also hosted its own signature shoots, The Davie Open and The Tar Heel Open; both of which were well attended and managed. When the North Carolina Skeet Association needed money, without asking, Mr. Parks would donate guns to be raffled off with all proceeds going to the Association.

Mr. Parks passed away January 16, 1998.
